Head TEACHER BIOgraphy

I was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus. I was born into a family of educators who instilled in me a love of learning, which is why I decided to pursue a career in teaching. To this end, I studied English Language Teaching at Eastern Mediterranean University and earned Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree (2007-2011). 

After graduating from university, my teaching career commenced at Doga College (Famagusta) and then continued at Levent College. I have been teaching English professionally for 9 years. My teaching expertise is in preparing students for KET/PET/FCE and IGCSE, IELTS, SAT, AS/A Level GCE Turkish examinations.

I enjoy working one-on-one with students needing further development in writing, speaking and comprehension and most importantly preparing them for high-level English exams through support and encouragement. Apart from on-site education, I am an online instructor at Preply, which enables me to teach English to people from all around the world. 

I believe learning is a never-ending process and the more I learn, the better I teach. That’s why I attended a myriad of professional development workshops and seminars administered by Cambridge and British Council so as to keep abreast of recent developments in education.           I attended “English into Turkish” translation course organised by City University, London; “Intensive Grammar” course by University of British Columbia; and a training course entitled “How to teach IELTS” by Cambridge English Language Assessment, to name but a few. I also did CELTA course at International House in London (2014) which was a life changing experience for my career and learned a lot from the most experienced teachers and trainers from other countries. 

I have recently begun to study the Trinity dipTESOL course provided by Oxford TEFL to advance my career, for professional growth and self-actualisation and pursue a career in teacher training. 

As Steinbeck once said “Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.” It’s my purpose and desire to be able to touch the hearts and minds of people hungry for knowledge and guidance.
